medication for PTSD - stops night mares
I take a medication for PTSD that I wanted to tell you about. It is called Prazosin. It is a Beta Blocker, a type of BP medication. It will stop you from having flashbacks. The only downside is that you need to take it several times a day because of how long it lasts. Some people have a little dizziness from it at first. So you usually start at 1mg and work up slowly. Most people are good to go with a 3mg or 4mg dose, but some have to go as high as 8 mg. It can make you a little sleepy at first. The VA has studied it and sponsored studies. It works very well. My husband was in Iraq. It has helped him a lot. It has helped me a lot too. (My nightmares are from childhood abuse). Please ask your doctor about it. Not getting sleep for months and years can cause depression. You will be surprised how much better you will feel with some sleep.
