2nd Blighted Ovum - want to pass naturally, any advice for how to make it easier?

or move things along more quickly? Herbs? I presume it's ok to take ibuprofin?

I just want to get this over with so we can start again!

Just for background, my first pregnancy was a blighted ovum that I passed naturally, 4 months later I became pregnant again and had a healthy son who is now 2. I just was diagnosed with my second blighted ovum at 10-1/2 weeks. I'm having a little spotting that looks like old blood. I don't want to have a D&C if I can possibly avoid it. I'm 39 and feel like I don't have a lot of time to fool around.

I'm so sorry you've had to endure this. The wait is agonizing. I have had two missed miscarriages (baby died but never had bleeding or cramping). I'm going through one right now (things still haven't started up; I'll probably be induced if they don't soon).

I have tried several herbal remedies both times but nothing worked for me. That's not to say it won't work for you so I'll pass them on.

These are things that are normally used to naturally induce a full term preg if a woman is faced with medical induction if she doesn't deliver.

Goldenseal capsules as directed on the label

Blue cohosh tincture 10-15 drops every 1/2-1 hour (but don't use for more than three days at a time and avoid altogether if you have problems with high blood pressure)

Nipple stimulation- either roll them between your fingers or use a breast pump (sometimes DH will do this for their wives). 10 minutes at a time with a five minute break until contractions are felt (this can be exhausting if you do it yourself and can cause nipple soreness)

Yarrow tincture as directed on the label

Evening primrose oil one 500mg capsule three times per day orally and insert three capsules vaginally before bed (this can make you goopy but it helps ripen the cervix)

Sex of course is the old standby

Honestly though until progesterone levels fall far enough these measures may not work. I wish I could help more. I also strongly suggest you research these methods before using them. As with everything in life there are risks.

I am truly sorry you're going through this. It can be so difficult.

Please let me know how things go for you!

    Love and Prayers, Kelly

Hey Kelly, thanks for your reply! It came a little too late though, I passed it last night. It was very painful - lots worse than the first one (I won't get into the gory details). If I ever am in this situation again (God forbid), I will just get a d&c!

Sorry for your loss as well. Good luck!

    Jennie
