Arrow Miscarriage or something else?

For three months I had no cycle at all. Then last month I had a think jelly like discharge with a bit of spotting, that lasted about 9 days. Yesterday morning I started having server cramping, pain in my back and legs, and light spotting. By the afternoon I was having some pinkish discharge with grey clots of what looked like tissue, spotting turned in to period like bleeding that last the rest of the day. Today I am having heavy bleeding (soaking an overnight pad in two hours) and cramping (Midol is just taking the edge off it but still there), pain in back and legs. Could this be because I missed three months?

Re: Miscarriage or something else?

Most likely just because you missed 3 cycles. When that happens, the uterine lining builds up deeply and then you have a heavy often painful period. The grey tissue is what endometrial tissue looks like, it can slough off like in sheets or clumps. Tubal ligation can temporarily put the ovaries in "mild shock" because the blood supply to ovary is interrupted during the procedure. Then ovulation doesn't occur, you miss periods, and this happens (what you are experiencing now). This usually corrects itself within a few months, so this period should get you "cleaned out" and once you start ovulating again, your periods will straighten out.
