long term: night sweats? Thx for help

Hi,

a good friend of mine had mononucleosis 2 years ago (in the age of 26).
A severe case, swollen liver and spleen, very high fever for weeks and so on.
It took her months to recover.
But since then she repeatedly suffers from fatigue / weakness (she knows this often happens after mono), but also extreme night sweats.

The night sweats do not occur every day, but sometimes. She canīt explain why. Nobody can. Doctors are helpless. The night sweats are severe, she says everything is wet: body, pyjamas, bedclothes etc. The sweating also extremely occurs between 3.30-5.00 am / in the night.

I like to help her and wanted to ask you for help, her English is not so good.
My question: Do you think the sweating has still something to do with mono?

My research has found out that there is little experience with long term effects of mononucleosis - it seems itīs the same problem in the US and also in Germany.

Thanks a lot, sorry for grammar and spelling mistakes
Jamie from Germany

Hi Jamie. Welcome to the boards.

I'm sorry your friend is suffering still. Unfortunately I don't have an answer to your question. I don't know why she would still be having night sweats. I would just encourage her to see a specialist and not give up. Maybe a hormone specialist or an immunologist?

Hopefully someone else will have more information or suggestions.

SOE

Hello SOE

thanks for your immediate response.
My friend was sent to an endocrinologist who checked all her hormones etc.
She has perfect blood test parameters, no single value differs.

Okay, thanks again for your help. Iīll hang in there and do more research.

If someone else has an idea - please feel free to share it with me. Thanks.

Kind regards
Jamie
