Newly diagnoised with mono at age 56

I was diagnoised this week with mono, had a throat swab, mono positive and strep negative. Family doc said cbc not that bad, no swelling in liver or spleen. Told to rest and be off work for 1 week. Read online that it is very uncommon to have mono over 40 years of age and that it could be lymphoma or leukemia. Anyone have any input. Anyone have mono over 50? Any input would be appreciated. My symptoms are, temp x 4 days, aches, swollen glands, throat not that sore just scratchy, headache
    thanks, rufus

Thanks for writing, Rufus. I've had negative tests on lymphoma, leukemia, and several cancer antibodies .. And my spleen is healthy. The Dr said mono can live in your body for years and then flare when your resistance is low - which mine has been because of septic blood last November.
