Question Diagnosed with Mono at age 74!

I've been in relatively good health until last fall, when I was hospitalized with septic blood. The antibiotic that saved my life (gentamicin) destroyed my vestibular system - so I've had to learn how to walk again. I've adjusted to being a "wobbler". All was going pretty well until two months ago when I became so fatigued I could barely function - and I was diagnosed with mono! It is so frustrating ...

Does ANYONE have any advice? I'd certainly like to know how long this is going to last!

    Hello,
i don't know how long it will last, i posted on this board a few days before you and no one replied. I was diasnoised at age 56 and shocked. Flu symptoms and tested positive for mono. I have leg weakness that i can't get rid of. This is week 3 and feeling much better. Still have the weakness in my legs. I work 12 hour midnight shifts and that does not help. Take care and hang in there.

Hope you are feeling better. I am doing much better but still have leg weakness at times. Let us know how you are doing. Sounds like you have been through a lot. Take care.
