Easily fatigued... related?

I had mono when I was 17, and I am now 39. Ever since then, I easily get fatigued. If I don't get 8 hours of sleep every night, I get sick. Every time it's the same thing: sore throat, swollen lymph nodes, phlegmy cough with a little metallic taste to it, general fatigue/achiness/malaise. It's usually when I've gone about three nights with less than 8 hours of sleep. It doesn't seem to be related to my diet or activity levels, and I am very active. Lack of sleep is always the trigger for this particular thing, and as I recall, these are similar symptoms to when I had mono. These incidents happen a couple of times per year. I have them now, and as usual it came after a few nights of not enough sleep, plus I've been under a ton of stress lately.

So, my question this related? Is my immune system maybe a little compromised because of having mono all those years ago? I've never known anyone else who has this problem.

Re: Easily fatigued... related?

It sounds related, but I don't know. I'm on my first time with mono. Well, technically the second because my blood tests show old mono and current mono. I just don't know when I had it the first time. From everything that I've read, mono can come back when you get too run down, or stressed. I don't know how that is going to be for me, because I have a stressful job and I was already tired all the time...

Have you talked to your doctor about this? Or gotten a current blood test?

I have not gotten a blood test. I asked my doctor about it a few years ago, and he blew it off. I don't have insurance now, so I'm kind of stuck on my own. Thanks for the reply!
