    MRI Results waiting times?

Hi, I Recently had a Brain and Spine MRI done on the NHS.
Can anyone tell me how long I could be waiting to get my results back?

    Thanks

    Smitho,

Thanks for your inquiry. The Royal MS Society might be good to advise you. The NHS is, from what I understand, slow in many results. Here in the US my results have never been more than 3 days and this is having radiology send the report to my MS Specialist. If you get a report, you should have it read by your MS Specialist rather than a radiologist because the radiologist is likely to write a broad report that encompasses a multitude of causes.

Hi Unfortunately the NHS is known to be really slow. Is there a way you can get your doctor to follow up on this? In the US, results come in within 48 hours and usually the doctor or his office calls shortly after.

The only 'good news" on this is that even if they decide you DO have MS, a few days or weeks isnt going to matter because there is no "cure" for it. Of course, that being said, they could put you on steroids for your symptoms (to reduce inflammation) or start you on disease modifying treatment to prevent it from becoming worse (no guarantee that will work but its a choice your doctor will discuss with you)...

Having MS is not the end of the world... I just passed my 14 year mark...and I am still basically the same as when I was diagnosed...but..you do need to know so that you can learn how to live with it.

Try calling the doctor- see if they can help. I am sorry you are going through this, it was the most terrifying days of my life wondering what was going on with me.
