Question visual problem like a kaleidoscope, anyone else?

My visual problem started and sometimes recures as if I were looking through a non-colored kaleidoscope, but mainly in my periferal vision, as if a clear window exists if I focus straight ahead. So its like a crystaline ring around what I'm seeing, that occassioanly and briefly flows over my entire visual field. This usually lasts only 15 to 25 minutes. Has anyone else experienced this??? Thanks for any replys.

It sounds like an ocular migraine. With this type of migraine there is usually no headache that goes along with it. Do a Google search. One site has a picture of what one looks like.

I had one of those earlier this summer. First the middle of my vision went gray, then I saw a jagged, colorful ring around the periphery of my sight. It lasted about 20 minutes and then I felt a little tired, but no headache.

Do you have MS? Welcome to the forum!

That is a lot like what my vision problems are, only in the periferial vision, but when I get stressed it goes more into the central vision. Sometimes it looks like smoke but when I turn my head, nothing. Certain lighting can make it worse, fluorescent lighting is bad or blinking lights. I have not been dx with MS but my primary doc made an appointment for me to see a MS specialist on Wed. It feels like I am in limbo waiting for the appointment. My vision problems started on 9/17, just when I think it is getting better I go into bad lighting and nope it is still bad. I have many other problems with the bad vision, it is hard to stay positive, but I am trying. You said it ol last a short time, did you mean in your central vision or the periferial? Keep track of your symptoms in a journal it will help a lot, Good luck to you and welcome!!!!!

Thanks for your responses/replys. I am dx'd with possilble ms. MRI was clear as was spinal tap (terribly painfull if you ask me, I just about jumped off the table). Have symptoms of knees giving out when walking, esp right knee, visual problems as you have read, depression, emotional lability, anxiety, dizziness, hot spots, feels like someone touched a hot iron to my right thigh at times... Have also experienced times of freaking out due to cool temps in my house, going into fetal position with shivers and shaking in what seemed like pain due to waking up or whatevever on cold nights, almost uncontrolable. Fatigue, exhaustion, weakness... I didn't want a dx of MS due to job and finances, loans and the like, but numb feet and face, difficulty walking, banging off walls, dropping things, diffficulty writing and keyboarding at times, make me think its time for LTD or at least admitting to liklihood of MS. I have fallen a couple of times, but still manage to drive for my work, although have pulled over occassionally to let visual disturbances pass. Neuro said some "grey matter" in left upper brain but MRI tech says no lesions. Neuro says doesn't look like MS, but not sure what it is. Evoked potential exagerated? Constant numbness in right upper thigh. Frequent numbness in feet and toes, both feet. Need to get prostrate an cool off when it gets hot, esp. feet. IBS dx as well as terrible urinary frequency for years, one urinal to the next, and recently, false need to urinate???. What do you think?
