Need Advice, Have Double Vision

I HAVE HAD DOUBLE VISION SINCE DEC 23, 05. MY NEURO SAID IT WOULD PROBABLY GET BETTER ON ITS OWN. AT FIRST, I COULDN'T EVEN SEE MY FINGERS IN FRONT OF ME. I HAD TO WEAR A PATCH ON ONE EYE IN ORDER TO SEE ANYTHING. IT HAS BEEN ALMOST 21/2 MONTHS NOW. I CAN SEE CLOSE UP GOOD, BUT THE DISTANCE VISION IS STILL DOUBLE. CAN ANYONE GIVE ME THEIR OPINION ON HOW LONG SHOULD I WAIT UNTIL I GET SOMETHING DONE. MY EYE SPECIALIST THAT I SAW YESTERDAY SAID I COULD WEAR THE GLASSES WITH THE PRISMS. OR HE CAN SURGERY JUST WEAKEN ONE MUSCLE IN MY LEFT EYE AND THAT WOULD TAKE CARE OF THE DOULBE VISION. tHE REASON HE FEELS THIS WAY IS BECAUSE I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE MUSCLE IN MY LT EYE FOR YEARS. IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN WEAK AND MY EYE SEEMED TO WANT TO TURN IN. SO. HAS ANYONE HAD THIS LITTLE SURGERY DONE. OR SHOULD I WAIT. I AM SO TORN BETWEEN GETTING THE PRISMS OR HAVING THIS 20 MINUTE SURGERY WHICH THE DR. FEELS WOULD DEFINATELY CORRECT THE PROBLEM

Julie,

I developed my first case of double vision a week ago.It was not my distant vision,it is occuring when I read and I'm tired.Wish I could be of more help.

Re: Need Advice, Have Double Vision

Thanks for rsponding. I wish someone out there with double vision would please respond. I am curious to hear someone elses story. My near vision has improved drastically, but anywhere from 6ft or more is double. Is this the best it's going to get??? My neuro THINKS it will get better in time
The eye specialist I saw last week is confident he can correct my vision with surgery. I just don't know what to do.. I may try the prisms for awhile and if the double vision doesn't get any better in a month or so I may have the surgery done.

My neuro called me today and said NOt to get the surgery. He suggested wearing the glasses with the prism for awhile.

I would appreciate anyone opinion and story.. Thanks Julie
