What diet, supplements and exercise are best for you?

I have mainly probs with balance altho most of the time they arent a prob, my left leg n arm ache n can feel week at times but other times i dont notice it!! i get tingling n wet senastions down my leg n my back can ache alot!! i can dance for hours some days but this wk dont even wanna walk lol. Im 28 had symptoms for 5 yrs just after havin my daughter dunno wot type it is n def aint interested in meds!! kinda done nothin to help myself but think i need to start esp wen i hav a rubbish day like today n my bf wants to hav kids!! so all pretty scary atm.
I read up on all this ALOT yrs back so am pretty clued up but just want advice and reccomendations

Hello blondeyclaire1,

MS is not a "one size fits all" type of disease, so what might work for one person won't for another.

Exercise: I use an elliptical, resistance bands, hand weights, stretching and just plain old walking.

Supplements: Over the years I have added and subtracted what I use. Currently: Fish oil, Flaxseed oil, Multi-Vitamin, Cranberry, Metamucil, magnesium.

Diet: I try to eat healthy.

Working with a Physical Therapist that is familar with MS can be beneficial for both core strenghting and balance. Individual results vary as does the disease.

A good resource for information about the problems you are having would be your neurologist. Sometimes symptom management meds can help your quality of life...better living through chemistry.

Wise words from Snoopy.

When I went on disability in 2002, I worked with a Rehab Nurse who taught me my stretching and exercises. When my left leg stopped functioning, my neurologist put me on a passive exercise routine. I use the Exercycle.

I think that above all, keep moving and keep stretching. I also have a service dog who really makes my day because if not for his support, my days would end sooner.

You might also consider pool therapy. It does help.

As Snoopy said, MS is not a one size fits all. You might want to keep track of what helps you the most and then make your daily routine fit.

I was just recently diagnosed and Ive chose not to use meds either. I think exercise helps alot. I do pilates. It helps build up your core and seems to have helped me with some of my balance issues. I also do some of the pilates stretches before I workout. I do that when Im feeling kind of tired and need to get a little energy before hitting the elliptical. The stretching and a little weight/resistance stuff really helps me get more energy to do more. On days when my muscles are sore or if my symptoms are kind of bad I get in the heated pool. Its amazing what a heated pool can do. Just make sure you dont get too hot.
