I'm wondering if there are any others from a third-world country (I'm an Indian from West Africa), and I'd like to know your experiences with regards to treatments, how you cope, access to doctors and their advice, social issues and stigma, and anything else you face that gives you relief or brings you difficulty.

Re: Is anyone here from a third-world country?

    Welcome.

Though not from a 3rd country, I have traveled through over 49 countries and I have been seen by doctors in many developing countries. For MS, India, Thailand, and the Philippines have been the best as far as MS is concerned. In many parts of Asia there is a stigma attached to disease. I lived in Japan for many years and there is definitely a stigma and it crosses into the area of treatment. International doctors and teaching hospitals were the best places for treatment because MS was not "foreign". Many Japanese doctors look at MS as a "western disease".

I know there are others here who are from developing countries. I hope you will find the support and camaraderie you can use.
