    I don't know what's wrong!! Lip twitching?

For the past four months I've been constantly dizzy, weak....I'll feel like a sensation of fear just run through my body and I begin to tremble. I always feel nervous and drop things a lot...here lately I feel like I'm jumpy. Like if someone even touches me I spaz out or my foot or whatever was touched jerks away really quickly. I have to think about what I want to say before I say it because I will mess my words up. This morning though my bottom lip was twitching. It went away after a few mins though and sometimes my leg muscles will have small twitches. They go away but usually reappear when I think about them. I just feel weak and spacey. The doctors have done blood tests all was ok. They told me I had a build up of inner ear fluid. But I feel like all this can't be caused by inner ear...or can it?

    Chellybean18,

There are many times that if something touches me the reaction of my body is to jerk away. If I am aware of the impending touch, I can get through it, though it still sends weird signals. I have also found that it can vary. That is, sometimes it is paper or a certain type of plastic. I remember my first touch sensitivity was when I was about 16 years old on the dairy farm and I touched a galvanized metal gate to let the cows into the milking pen waiting area. It was as though my hand had been stabbed and ran through.

If I am having a certain sensitivity issue, during the winter I will wear my gloves. During the summer I have a pair of lightweight cotton gloves.

Facial tics can cause lips to twitch. When I have droopy face, as my facial nerves start to return to "normal" I will have twitches.

While inner ear fluid build up can cause problems, in adults the symptoms are usually different than children and are usually: Ear pain, Drainage of fluid from the ear, and Diminished hearing. Balance issues while they can present in adults, it is most noticeable in children. If you had a recent cold or infection, the Eustachian tube can be affected afterward which can cause the fluid build-up. If this is your case, the doctors should have noted any drainage problems. The inner ear fluid build-up would not explain your twitching or sensations when touched.

    Chellybean,
Do you have MS? Im just curious since you posted here (all are welcome of course!). What you describe is not an MS thing. Sensorary mix ups can be caused by a zillion and one different reasons the nerves and MS being only one of them- but not a regular symptom in MSers.

You describe alot of anxiety. Being dizzy and fearful is similar to anxiety in the way it presents. This would or could, also make your lips tremble and muscles shake. It can also be caused by a vitamin deficiency....even having low magnesium can cause muscle weakness and shaking. You said blood tests were done, do you know what they were done for? What specifically they were looking for? If you have a copy of them, take a look and see if their are any tests for vitamin B or D deficiencies- or were they simply CBC tests, specific to cholesterol, sodium, WBC and Sugars?

I'm not sure just yet if I have ms. I'm going through a lot of tests right now. But now that you mention it I think my test was only for thyroid problems and a CBC. I'm going back in a few days and they want to do more :/ I just don't know what's going on anymore thanks for your help though!!

    Chellybean18,

The thyroid can mimic MS, but it can be tested and identified or eliminated as the cause through specific testing. The blood tests can also identify or eliminate known MS mimicries (vitamin D deficiency, for example).

Even your doctors will not know what is going on until they do more testing. Fortunately, most non-MS concerns can be identified or eliminated through testing. If the tests point in the direction of neurology, I would encourage you to start with an MS Specialist and then accept a referral to another specialist if needed.

As Nikki shared, anxiety can be a factor and it is a well known MS mimicry. If anxiety is an issue, it is still something entirely treatable. Lay aside your fears. Until you have something objective, it will remain unknown until the testing is complete.

    Chellybean,
Not knowing what kind of doctor you are seeing, you may want to be seeing an neurologist, if you arent. A Primary Care Doctor is fine for running basic tests, but they arent always the best at interpreting them. Take your results to a Neuro to see what they have to say...
Best of luck to you...keep us posted.
