    Nail Pitting

Hi. Can anyone tell me what nail pitting would be a sign of? My 11 year old daughter has pretty bad nail pitting, to the point that nail polish is hard to get out of the pits when taking it off. Anyone with nail problems from Autoimmune diseases? I know it can be an issue from alopecia and she has had a history of hair loss but nothing in a while. She had bald spots in her hair a few years ago. She is also confirmed with Scleroderma but unknown yet if it's Systemic. She also has no signs of Psoriasis (at this time) but obviously with autoimmune diseases, the symptoms can be different everyday. In the end, I just want to know if anyone has this problem with their nails and what their conditions that cause it because we are in the process with doctors in trying to figure my daughter out. As her new Rheumatologist told us, she's a unicorn in a field of horses and zebras. Thanks!

    Re: Nail Pitting

Sorry she is dealing with so much. I have some nail pitting- but it happens sporadically, not always..I also have MS- an autoimmune disease. With this also comes eczema, and when the eczema flares on my hands- thats when the nail pitting shows up.

    Has this been considered?
