Horizontal Lines/Depressions on nails

In the last year or so I have started to notice I am getting horizontal lines or depressions on my hand nails and toenails. Most prominent on my thumbnails and big toenails. The ones on my thumbs are visible at the right angle but you cannot feel them when running your fingers across them. The ones on the toes used to mainly only be visible but a few weeks ago I noticed that there is a line or two on each nail that could be felt.

I have read that these can be beaus lines and Iím worried this can mean something serious is going on, does any one else have these or any information?

I spoke to my GP about them and he didnít really seem concerned at all.

Has your GP done any blood work? It CAN mean a vitamin deficiency..or it can be absolutely nothing. Do you get manicures? Do you wear artificial nails? The filing and drilling of your nails can also cause lines in them.
