The "white" lines are only the dried out portion of the rails on the surface of the nail bed. When the nail bed is exposed, the 'wet' tissues will dry out. Once they become dried out, the nail plate cannot seal to the nail bed. If they look awful, you can use a 240 grit file to remove them. As the nail plate pushes forward, it will bring along with it a new nail bed. That's about the only way I can explain it.

    Thanks Marti

So this sounds hopeful then, sounds like there is a chance my nails can grow back.
Ok so now alot of patience is required, it looks like another summer of closed toe sandals for me, fingers crossed next year I will be able to wear flip flops again.

    Cheers Marti

    Hi,

Ive not been on here for a while but Im still fighting this fungus

I am concerned that I have damaged the nail bed from filing and cutting too much.

Im now currently using a thrush cream as someone on another board is seeing some improvements using it.

I am also going to see a chiropodist again soon, see if they can help me out.

    Just thought I'd update!

It can take upwards of a full year to kill the fungus and that is only if you are diligent with your applications. If you are still having problems, I suggest you see your dermatologist for a prescription of Lamasil or its generic equilevent.
