Thumbnail biopsy - will my nail grow back (it's been three months!)

Hi there - this is my first time posting! In mid-December (3.5 months ago) I had to have my thumbnail removed as part of a biopsy (to rule out melanoma on my thumb - which thankfully results came back as negative!)

Here's the thing - the surgeon had to remove my thumbnail to perform the biopsy - and then he sewed the nail back on to protect the skin underneath (it fell off a month later).

There has been no sign of the nail regrowth now 3 months on and I am terrified it is not going to grow back. Does any one have any experience in how long it can take for a thumbnail to even reappear? Or should it have reappeared already? I suppose there is a chance that the nail bed was damaged during the surgery and maybe it will never grow back?

Any feedback would be so very much appreciated!!
