    Confused about Thymol application

I am using Amoresse Thymol for my fingernails (yeast infection), some of which have lifted down the sides, almost to the cuticle. I keep them cut quite short so as not to put too much pressure on them because of the lifting.

It says apply one drop under the nail(s), but will it actually work its way down as far as the lifted areas go? I would think that would be necessary in order to fight this thing, but perhaps I'm wrong?

    Hello snowboarder.

I have wondered the same thing with topical treatments. Considering the small amount of space between the nail plate and the nail bed, it doesn't seem likely to me that the liquid would be able to get to all of the affected areas. I think what would work better is if you could keep your fingernail submerged in a solution that would clear up the infection, but I don't know how to go about making an effective solution.

This is a big reason why I prefer using the oral treatments for my nail problems.

    Hi flamesabers,

    Thanks for your reply. :-)

I tend to agree with you, and yet so many people seem to have had positive results using topicals this way. Unfortunately, I cannot take the oral med for this (severe reaction in the past), so I guess I haven't got much of a choice except to keep trying it this way and see where it leads me in a few weeks. I'd love to be able to soak my fingers in it, but that's a definite no-no with this stuff.

This has been going on for so long and I've tried vinegar, Vicks, Tea Tree Oil (had a skin reaction to that), and even Listerine and none of them did anything to help. So, this is pretty much my last resort. Fingers crossed!
