Unhappy Help: Will my nail grow back?

    Hi,

I developed paronychia in my thumb about six weeks ago after pulling a hangnail. I took good care of it and the infection cleared, but as the nail grows out, it doesn't seem like a new one is growing in. It's been about a month since the infection cleared, and every now and then, a flaky, skin-like "nail" looks like is growing from the base. It's not hard at all, and anything, even gently washing my hands, will make it flake off. The nail bed still looks a bit swollen but is gradually going down. Will my nail ever grow back? If so, how long does it take to see one start poking through and is there anything I can do to speed up the process? I cover it with a bandaid every day

    Help!

Ok guys - I'm freaking out. Please someone answer me. It's been another week with no sign of a new nail. Am I going to just not have one on the thumb for the rest of my life? The old nail has grown out half way.

    Please! Anyone?!?!
