Unhappy Small hole in nail, now Soft squishy puffy skin??

Hi. I had gel nails for a while.
They usually create a rough surface for the product to bond.
Now my nails still have thee awkward ridges. One of them was
Sticking up funny so I pulled it off. Expect it took a whole chunk
Out of my nail. To make matters worse its right near the cuticle.
The skin in the whole first swelled up pretty good and was very
Plump and squishy. There was a tiny bit of blood. The swelling has
Now gone down but when my hands go in water it puffs back up
And softens the good/remaining nail around it.

I have absolutely no idea what happened, how to fix it, if I
Should be really concerned, and how it will heal? I had a good
Freakout the initial day, now im just worried if it will get infected
If more of my nail will lift up, or if there is damage to below the
    Cuticle I the root?

Sorry for the long essay, but I really would like some insight if at
All possible? I'll go and see a dermatologist if it gets worse or
    Goes green or something.

Hi. I just had the same thing happen to me. Can you share your status now? Did it ever heal?
