    Problems months after toenail removal.

I had an injury to my toenail a year ago. I started to die and fall off eventually, so i went to get the whole thing removed around May. Since then its been fine, my toe nail hasn't grown back which I figured it wouldnt. But it's developed a nail-type surface? It doesn't quite look like a nail, is is rather pre-mature looking (best way to describe it). My nail bed is much smaller now on my toe and looks un-proportional ever since my removal. I've always had an issue with ingrown toenails, seems like its happening again? My entire toe is swollen and its extremely painful, more than it ever was before i got my nail removed. What the heck is going on?! Could my weird nail-type be "in grown"? I can post pictures if needed. Thanks!
