Penlac weekly application and removal with alcohol

This is my first post after registration today.

Why do we need to layer the brush on lacquer?

A podiatrist friend wondered why too as it seemed to him filing the nail would prepare it for the prescription and work better each time. He was not familiar with Penlac, however.

Secondly, I find using rubbing Alcohol barely removes the lacquer and I then use a metal nail tool to scrape the lacquer off. What kind of alcohol should I be using?

Thanks for any comment on the efficacy of the layering procedure and weekly removal.
