    constant dizziness and blackouts?...

    hello there.
wondering if anyone can help me
In about november last year i started to feel really ill and was sick at work everyday, the symptoms also included dizziness, weakness, blurred vision and tingling in my fingers, also the right side of my face feels numb and asleep to the left side.
in december i collapsed at work and blacked out where i was then taken to hospital and had tests which included, ECGS, blood sugar levels, urine sample and a full blood tests. they all came back ok and so i was sent to my gpand was off work and in bed for a month.

He first thought that it was depression and advised me to see a counsulor and asked me if i self harmed etc. When that was cleared he advised me that he thought it was vertigo and gave me medication to try for two weeks. It was for dizziness and is suposed to stop it, but it didnt help at all. since then i have tried every anti dizziness tablets and none of them have worked, my gp has run out of differents ones to prescribe. Its getting worse now and its starting to worry me.

Since december i have been to hospital several times, had to have injections etc but my dizziness is getting worse.
I have immense head pain and an constantly dizzy, the smallest turn of my head causes me to be unable to walk until my head has stopped spinning. I have also started to blackout, my sight will go if i move to quickly and wont come back for a few minutes. i also see flahing lights in the corners of my eyes and i get a head pain on top of the dizziness which makes my eye site go.

I have been to ENT where i have had tests to make sure it was not an inner ear problem and they are all ok and he advised me that it was a head problem.
Ive had an appointment with neurology this week where he did the reflex test and have found out that i have no reflex, he did all the points and i do not move or react at all, he said i dont have any. what does this mean?

He has said that i need MRI scans and some other head scans and that if they come back clear then i need to go to cardiology.

My question is that i have not have an answer to what it can be. Does anyone know. im only just approaching 21 and its affecting my life greatly, but cause no one can see it, no one understands. ive had alot of time off work and i want to know or have an idea of what is going on.
Please can some one help me, i would really appreiciate it if anyone can put me in the right direction!
    Many thanks

    Hi,

Have you been tested for POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome)? I've just turned 22 and was diagnosed with POTS when I was 21. Your symptoms sound familiar with POTS. Maybe you could look it up and ask your neurologist. He would need to do a tilt test to diagnose this.

    Hey
thank you for taking the time to read and reply!
Ive just looked it up and it does look similar and i am having alot of those symptoms so im gunna look into it more and ask my doctor.

Its really starting to worry me and simple things like spelling and finding the right words are getting more frequent and i find it really hard now to spell etc.
And its hard for people to understand what its like, cause they cant see it they think im fine you know.

How did it come to you being diagnosed with POTS, if you dont mind me asking?
    Many thanks again

Yes I know exactly what you mean, that sounds like brain fog and for me its usually caused by lack of oxygen to the brain. Its not dangerous though just very annoying. I started off by having extreme fatigue, exercise intolerance, dizziness and lightheadedness on standing and chest pain. For ages people couldn't find out what was wrong with me. I seen 2 cardiologists a neurologist and an ME specialist and no one knew what was wrong. So I did some research for myself and found a cardiologist who had an interest in POTS. I went to London to see him and he worked with a neurologist to do all sorts of tests. I had a tilt test where my heart rate increased 51 beats from lying to standing and I passed out. I also had autonomic function testing which showed that my autonomic nervous system doesnt function properly so my heart rate, blood pressure and breathing rate are all over the place. POTS isn't a good illness to have but luckily its not life threatening and can be treated with medication after a lot of trial and error. A lot of specialists don't know what POTS is so I would recommend being referred to someone who knows a lot about it. It will either be a cardiologist or neurologist. Hope you find out whats wrong soon
