Numb hip and top of thigh?! Possible slight swelling

The top of my thigh and part of my hip is completely numb since 5 days ago. Has not got any better or worse since this time. I saw a nurse practitioner because I couldn't get a doctor's appointment until next week. She dismissed it because the area isn't discoloured. She said:
"IF it really is numb, go to A&E". (ER).
So basically she didn't believe me because it's not discoloured. I saw her 2 days ago, and since then it has started to ache a little further down my leg where I still have full sensation. Not much though. I have now made a doctor's appointment but not until nearly a week away. Does anyone have any ideas? I don't remember injuring it at all and haven't been bitten by a bug there. I did get a tattoo a few weeks ago but that's on my finger and is very small (and I have had a tattoo before).
