Inflammatory Neuropathy??

Hi everyone, the doctors have determined that I have limited autonomic neuropathy of unknown cause as the cause of many of my ***zare symptoms (nausea, bloating, burning in my stomach, constipation, tingling & itching & burning sensations over my whole body, severe pain in my shoulders, extreme sensitivity to sound). Anyways, another common element to all my symptoms is mild, chronic inflammation especially in my stomach, face (exzema), and intestines.

I've talked to a few people online about this and someone told me there may be a possible inflmmatory neuropathy going on involving mast cells. I tried to find info on inflammatory neuropathy but was unable to do so and the woman I was talking to is away for the holidays. She mentioned trying gastrocom (chromolyn sodium) to help reduce the inflammation. Does anyone here know anything about this or is there someone else on here with "inflammatory neuropathy'? My stomach and skin burning is easily set off by caffeine, heat, fruit, and a host of other foods & envirnomental conditions (for the skin only). Any advice would be appreciate!

There are many PN sufferers who have gastro complications or connections. I suggest you web up 'gluten+neuropathy'. You will probably find a great deal of research and a good number of resources to help.

Agree with dahlek ... about gluten sensitivity and your symtoms in the stomach and intestines. You should have an food allergy blood test done to see if your immune cells are hyper to certain foods. The intestines are lined with T-cells waiting for pathogens to enter the body so when certain allergic foods are eaten these cells go into overdrive and self attack. Something to look into......

Re: Inflammatory Neuropathy??

It COULD be anxiety, BUT. If a doc doesn't do any extra testing to rule out physical aspects as symptom causes, well, it's time for the old second opinion route!
Why? Checkout www.neuroexam.com to see an introduction on what neuro docs check for, the tests they use and why they do these things. For a more detailed check list of tests for neuropathy [and spinal] diagnosing see www.lizajane.org Both these sites will give you the background you need to start asking the right questions. Before you see another specialist tho, you will have to ask for, and then get, copies of your prior records...tests, MRI's any correspondence to your GP etc. Some docs charge for this on a per page basis, but..in the long run you will have these records forever and they will be harder to lose.
I mean, anxiety can cause neuropathies, and just having neuropathy can cause anxiety! Especially when most treatments to date have failed. A second opinion by a top neuro that does those couple of extra tests can put your mind to rest, and get your nerves a bit of relief.
Check back in after you do this - and let us know how things are going!
