    Neuropathy in/out of remission??

Hello all, I am currently 35 and was diagnosed with a form of "hereditary" neuropathy at 26 after no known source could be found (good grief). My neuropathy only affected me from the knees down with a burning and throbbing weird pain with muscle twitches. I know this doesn't sound horrible, but it was. The pain was relentless. At the age of 29, I became strung out on fentanyl, morphine, norco and etc. due to the willingness of the doctors and my poor choices to take so many. I say all this to detail that I became pregnant, went to rehab and suddenly the neuropathy subsided??? My son is now 3 and I have not had any symptoms until last week (still clean too . All of a sudden my body was covered with a nerve explosion that lasted 2 hours and muscle soreness that lasted 3 days. On the fourth day BAM the neuropathy was back, exactly the way it was before, confined to the legs. I'm on week 2, no changes...DARN! My question is...has anyone had neuropathy go into remission? Has it come back?Has pregnancy affected your neuropathy? I'm baffled, I really thought I was in the clear and even convinced myself that I had been misdiagnosed in the first place (after all there were no definitive tests that said "YES!" You have definite, certifiable neuropathy , ha) I'm nervous, don't know how I'm gonna deal with this painful condition without using pain meds. I've been reading all the posts from this forum and have nothing but the deepest compassion for your confusion and continuing pain. I commend you for your willingness to support others and obvious optimism! You guys rock.

There are other types of medicaton that calms the nerves that is not a pain killer. I am on gabapentin 900mg 3x a day. I have been gradually increased to this dosage. There is Lyrica and Cymbalts which are the same type of drugs. Sure your doc can find something that will work for you.

Thanks nice lady. I'm glad gabapentin is working for you, unfortunately I hear voices while taking that med lol. I remember lyrica working even tho it's in The GABA family, it came without the voices. If I remember correctly, which I'm sure I do...nothing removes the pain completely, so any relief is good relief. I'm gonna try jogging, see if I can replace the neuro pain with healthy exercise pain.

    Re: Neuropathy in/out of remission??

So has anyone had their neuropathy go away then come back after a few years? My brain and soul wants to say its not neuropathy since it went away (what kind of neuropathy goes away)....probably denial. Should I start seeing a Neurologist again? Is there any new treatments out there in the last 4 years, or is it still the same ol same ol? I strongly remember feeling hopeless, with no answers everytime I went to neuro. I need a doctor that can prescribe hugs, because that's what I need right now.
