You already know that the diet is unhealthy and you are probably aware that the weight isnt either. Have you taken him to a doctor? What does the doctor say ? You have to believe that even though he will only eat certain foods, if they are not available, he will not starve. He will have to find other (healthier) things to eat...after all , he is too young to get in a car and drive to a restauarant. You are the parent, I assume. Its up to you to set boundaries and to ensure he is healthy...but this being said, are you absolutely sure there isnt a medical reason for the weight gain? You want to rule this out first...after that you can start worrying about a diet and exercise.
    Good luck!

Make him eat vegetables by blending them in a mixer n then mix it with some thing the child finds tasty..but the volume of vegetables should be more ...nd u can give the child homemade fruit juice... he will probably find it tasty...and try to explain him that he is getting obese which can cause problems in future, though its difficult to make an 8 year old understand this...n most importantly take him to a nutritionist n take a food chart from the doctor...(if u think its reqd.)
