    OCD and Smoking

I have an ocd problem with cigarettes. If I smoke a cigarette and then think the wrong thought, like something violent immediately after I smoke a cigarette, then I tell myself I have to immediately smoke another one. Or if I listen to the "wrong song." Or think the "wrong thing," I tell myself I have to immediately smoke another cigarette. And this leads to be smoking sometimes a half a pack a day. I smoke even though I don't want to smoke because I can't let the ocd thought fester in my mind. Can anybody else relate to this and if so can you give me some advice on a way not to complete the compulsion of smoking a cigarette. Even if you don't have this problem can you give me some advice on a way around it. I'd really appreciate it.

Rick, that sounds very dangerous; you should find a therapist who can help you with CBT/ERP. I think OCD is hard enough to kick and smoking cigs compulsively will make things tougher for you; get help right away. Good luck my friend!
