    Question St. John's Wort?

Has anyone had any success in treating their OCD with St. John's Wort? I take 60 mgs of Prozac every morning, and that seems to help, but was wondering what the translation of that dose would be to St. John's Wort, and if it would work. I'd rather take natural supplements instead of pharmeceuticals, as I've found Valerian Root to be a much better option than Xanax in treating my anxiety, but I don't want to risk going off Prozac if St. John's Wort wouldn't help. Thanks!

    Cool

hi kurt25. i tried st. john's wort for at least 3 months before going on prozac. it helped slightly with my depression but honestly it didn't help my ocd at all. it is a very mild a.d. compared to prozac and if you are having success with prozac i wouldn't try changing, at least without talking to your dr. i went off prozac 2 years ago and had a relapse of my ocd symptoms within 2 months. i feel like you i would much rather be on natural substances but the prozac has really done alot for me. good luck...john

I have also heard that St. Johns Wort takes a while to start working. Prozac and Zoloft will start working in a week or so, you have to devote months to this herb for it even to START working. I have also tried ST. John's Wort, I could not give it long enough to work before I started on Zoloft.
