17 year old, 98 resting heart rate

    Hello,

I'm 17 yrs old and I have a resting heart rate of 98-100 and that's very worrisome. What's the next best course?

My understanding is that any heart rate under 100 bpm is considered "normal" but if it feels high for you, I would recommend that you get your thyroid checked. Do you have any symptoms other than a 98 bpm resting heart rate?

Do you drink any caffeine? Caffeine, stress, inactivity can elevate HR.

How many times have you checked?

    Also, is your BP normal?

If possible, try to relax and think of something that makes you happy

Sometimes, people have stress or depression during the holidays or winter.

If you are really concerned, you should see if you can keep track of your HR over 3-7 days. If it is below 100, then you may not have much to worry about

Do you check it before you get out of bed in the morning? That's your best gauge.

    Hello ninmoots

Are you checking your HR after resting for at least 10mins also? As previously mentioned, under 100bpm is absolutely normal but if you are worried about it (which could also be contributing to a higher RHR I would certainly recommend that you speak to your doctor regarding your worries and anything else that might be of concern for you right now also.

    All the best!
    K.
