    High potassium

    Hi everyone.
I just had a blood test and the doctor rang me up to say that I have high potassium and to have another test in two weeks. Now Iím scared to eat anything as there is potassium in all foods. I did eat a lot of spinach and used low salt which he told me to stop. Any tips on what I can eat please. Thanks.

How high was it? What is the acceptable range and what was yours? If he didn't give you a diet and wants to re-test so soon, it must not have been very high. Was this a fasting blood test?

    Re: High potassium

    Hi Titchou

My levels were 5.7 and itís normal between 3 and 5 so itís a bit high.
It wasnít a fasting blood test. He just said no more ready meals or dark greens like spinach or tomatoes or bananas. I eat a lot of spinach and tomatoes so itís hard for me. Thanks

Make it a fasting one next time and your numbers should be good. my sodium was below normal one time - fasting 10 days before physical. went to physical after eating lunch at McDonald's - ran sodium test and it was fine.
