    Post Plurisy

I have recently been diagnosed with plurisy. I am in severe pain in the left upper rib cage and back. How long does it take to get feeling like eating again.
It hurts so bad to eat.
    Thanks,
    Marcia

Marcia, I assume you are taking antibiotics and an anti-inflammatory medication. When I have had plurisy, I usually would feel much better in 3-4 days taking an antibiotic and indomethacin; although, it usually took about a month for the grinding pain to go completely away when taking deep breaths. I hope you feel better very soon.

I am not on antibiotics just pain meds, celebrex. If I am still in pain on monday I am calling my Dr. again. Did you have a chest xray to get your diagnosis?
    Thanks
    Marcia

Yes, I did have a chest x-ray the first time I got plurisy. The next couple times I got it, my doctor did not do a chest x-ray. Once you have had plurisy, you usually know when you have it again. It is a type of pain one remembers. My doctor could hear the grinding sound when he listened to my chest and side. Each time I have had it, I have been given antibiotics as well as an anti-inflammatory drug. Celebrex is good, but since you are not feeling better you should check back with your doctor. You probably do need an antibiotic. I hope you feel better soon!!
