you said you were going t o go see a doctor still? if you can't believe stress is making you so sick then go back to the doc and talk about everything. you might need stress/anxiety medication or some other type of med. don't let this get out of control ok?

My mom laughed at me when i told her i was having anxiety attacks and told me i was ************ nuts. I told her to cancel the appt. with the cardiologist so i could see a specialist in panic attacks. She again laughed and sarcastically said "What do you want me to do? Call my doctor and tell him my son is having panic attacks? he'll laugh at me." I told her "Yes, please, tell him that, please, i need help for this" She again laughed and said "Well, here's something for your little panic attacks, you have to be in Illinois next week to be in court". I tried explaining to her what was going on and what panic attacks are, she again laughed. I told her "mom, you don't understand what's going on with me, i need help for this" She replies with "Oh, i know exactly what's going on, you're a ************ nutcase".

I wish i could get through to her, this is just making what's going on in my life even worse. I was finally starting to feel better until this.

good lord sweetie! sometimes moms don't want to admit that kind of sickeness in their children. you need to make the appt. yourself ok? i got on xanax and after the first will be on zoloft (insurance changes) i was having horrible panic and anxiety and i got my life back. for some reason people don't look at mental illness as a real illness. i don't know why. if you can't get in to see the doctor for panic, get your mom to take you to your GP for somethin' else, go back for the flu if you have to and talk to your doc about the panic. he/she will listen and get you the proper meds or referal you need, then she can't say nothin' huh? don't give up, you don't have to live like this.

I'm going to relax between now and my court date if possible, i just need to get all of this out of me before i pile on more stress by seeing a doctor. Hopefully i don't have a serious attack in the court room, definately not a good place to be when i'm feeling like i am.

you just don't want to face your mom about it i think. i am telling you that if you get the proper help, you can take on your court date with confidence instead of fear. but its up to you.

The problem is getting treatment between now next week.

I finally did talk some sense into the woman though, she still doesn't fully understand what's going on, but atleast she understands that i have been through alot of stress lately.

She gave me a bottle of Zoloft she had left-over in the cupboard, i'm going to try that out tomorrow when i wake up. I've taken the drug before, only side-effect i expirenced was insomnia.

doesn't touch anxiety/panic attacks, go to a doctor, they can fit you in.

    What is sertraline?
Sertraline is in a class of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Sertraline affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and cause depression, panic or anxiety, obsessive or compulsive symptoms, or other psychiatric symptoms.
Sertraline is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), and social anxiety disorder, also known as social phobia.
Sertraline may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.
Sounds like it does to me...

Re: This year's flu has been causing my heart to go crazy (starting to get pretty scared)

Many people have been successfully treated with Zoloft for depression, panic disorder, OCD, and PTSD.

How long does it take to feel better?
The time it takes to feel better is different for everyone. You may start to feel better within 2 to 4 weeks or it may take 6 to 8 weeks. Even if you dont feel better right away, its important to keep taking your medicine as directed. The people around you may see a change for the better before you do.

all i am sayong is that yes zoloft can help the prevention of anity or panic, but it takes a long *** time to work. i know, i have been on it before. self diagnosing yourself by taking an old sample in the back of the pantry is not a soulution. this is a disorder that needs to be medically diagnosed properly. how interesting that she would have some but not want to take you to see if you need mental help. i am not saying this is a disorder you will have forever, mine comes and goes but what i have learned is that if i take the wrong stuff, i am even worse off. i want to support you and help, but i can only reflect off of my experiences.

without talking to a medical professional you don't know what kind of dose to take, how often even if it is the right medication for your symptoms, plus with a pre-existing heart condition it would seem you should take extra precaution.
i personally think that taking what is left in an old bottle will only make things worse. it is a stupid move for a potentially serious condition.

Re: This year's flu has been causing my heart to go crazy (starting to get pretty scared)

I had to make a new name, appearently i was banned for some reason...

Anyway, i'll take your advice and not take the Zoloft. I've developed a cough though that started yesterday, just a dry cough. Today it's turned into a hacking and burning-the-lungs type cough, from what i've read these attacks effect the lungs, is that simply it?

I'm developing a fever, seems now i'm going to have a cold ontop of what i'm already going through. 99.8 not too long after drinking a semi-cold glass of water. *sigh*

stress causes your immunue system to break down, so you very well coulld be getting a cold now. have you checked out the panic disorder board? or the stress and anxiety? i think you will find a lot if support there. i am there a lot too.
