Erythema

The esophageal junction is the junction between the stomach and lower esophagus.
The term erythema simply means "redness", but when it is used to describe the esophagus it often means that some inflammatory process, such as GERD, is [U]causing[/U] the redness.

In your case, the phrase you posted describes what the doctor found in this area. Since the GE junction is the part of the esophagus [B]closest[/B] to the stomach, it's the first to be exposed to the acid reflux that occurs in GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease...the new millenium term for heartburn!)
You're doctor will no doubt start or re-evaluate treatment for GERD for you, and you should do fine.
