Question pre existing

Does anyone know if an insurance company can call one UTI a pre existing condition (was treated 3 months before the insurance took effect) to kidney stones if the kidney stones weren't found until the a month and a half after the insurance took effect. Is it pre existing if you dont know you have it?
anyone ever dealt with this before? thanks for any input

Re: pre existing

you know, I have had quite a few of UTI's and my insurance never didn't pay for the treatment. I don't know how it works with infections, there might be a different rule for that one. Of course, I had the same insurance through all of them. I wish I could help you more, I myself don't really understand the fine line of pre-existing conditions.

Oh, I do know this: if your insurance is through work they cannot exclude your care b/c of a pre-existing condition-may not work for HMOs immediately, I believe there is a six month window.

Re: pre existing

My husband had to work there a year until the insurance was activated on August 14th.. then in Sept I have the second UTI and they sent me to a urologist and he did a cat scan and thats when they were found.. So I hope the insurance will pay for it since I nor the doctor's knew I had them until after the insurance came into effect.. Thanks you for your replies

Re: pre existing
