Question Drug testing questions

I have a few questions. If you take 7 or 10 sleeping pills (over the counter) and a few teaspoons of cough syurp that has codeine will it show on a drug test? How long does it stay in your system? Thank you

Re: Drug testing questions

Codeine is a narcotic (think of heroin which is a narcotic) and will show up as so on a blood test. It also depends what kind of sleeping pill, for example, if you take ativan or xanax for sleep it will show as a benzodiazipine but if it is over the counter it shouldn't. Note, also medications containing Pseudoephedrine can also cause a positive drug test (similar to that of a meth. user). AND PLEASE DON'T MIX WHAT YOU ARE MIXING, IT COULD PROVE DEADLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bella
PS: I do believe the cough syrup stays in your system for 48-72 hrs.

Re: Drug testing questions

I dont know if this question will make it threw, but I have to ask, Why are you taking 7-10 sleeping pills? Is that all at once?

Re: Drug testing questions

I just do it because I like the feeling it gives you... I dont take any more then 10 pills and only like 2 teaspoons of the cough syurp so its really not a lot.

Re: Drug testing questions

aerdna-
squishy41227 does it because people get a "high." I know people that do this and it can kill. The active ingredient in over-the-counter sleep meds are all the same and some people get a feeling like ther are tripping or a euphoric feeling when taking a high dose, espcially in combination with cough meds, prescription or otherwise. People have died with as little as 10 pills (it builds up in your system/tolerance/reverse tolerance like any other drug). It isn't a benign high! Be careful.

Re: Drug testing questions

These people are all correct!!! You are doing more harm to your body than you realize. And yes, this will show up on your drug test.

Smile Re: Drug testing questions

I was going to volunteer at a hospital during the summer and I read they do random drug test and now Im scared because if I get caught I get fired from that and my parents will kill me. I was just wondering if that small amount would show up.

Re: Drug testing questions

If you did it once, probably not. As long as it is more tha 72hrs before your test you wll be fine.

Re: Drug testing questions

Don't take anything within 72 hours of the test. The more of that cough syrup you use the longer it will take to get out of your system. But it usually, regardless of how many times you take it, should be all gone within 72 hours.

Re: Drug testing questions

squishy? Please, Please, stop now!How old are you? I hope you dont mind my asking, but, what you said" I just do it because I like the feeling it gives you"
Sounds like me when I was 16, 17 years old.
Tattoos is right it can kill you. I do know what you mean though. There are so many other things that you ( one day) will Like the way you feel, on. Does that make sense?
If I have offended you in any way, I am sorry, and I dont want to come of as some person that is in recovery and want to preach to you. But please take it down by half at least. Your immune system is going to make you take more and more.

No its okay, I wasnt offended or anything. Im 18 years old and Ive been doing this for about 7 years so I think Im doing okay.. this is just the first time I actually have to think about what Im doing. Ive never had to be drug tested so its never been a problem. I never thought of stoping but Im kind of risking my job if I keep doing it. But theres still a chance that I might be lucky and they wont test me. Its only a summer job anyway so I still dont know what to do.

Re: Drug testing questions

I hate to tell you this but depending on the med, some can stay in your system for much longer than just 72 hours. Some can stick around for up to a month.Because i have to go to a pain clinic, I am subject to random drug testing as well. They test for many different kinds of narcotics and illegal drugs. These tests are very specific and can tell just how much is actually in your system at the time of the test.i think it is time to move on from what you are doing here before you end up in some trouble. Many many places of business do random drug testing,if you ever want to get hired anywhere, the OTC meds wont probably be an issue or even tested for,but the cough syrup definitely would show up if there is any sort of a narcotic in it.If this is Rxed for you, it wont be a problem, but if it is not, it could be.**

Re: Drug testing questions

What I don't understand is.... you are worried that your "parents will kill you" if they find out when you are risking killing yourself by doing this in the first place. If you can't live without the feeling these drugs give you, then you need some help for this. Do THAT for yourself!
