    Hyperventilation, any adverse effects?

Sometimes when I'm reeally bored or depressed I'll manually hyperventilate then hold my breath. (kind of like the passing out game) I read weki-pedia on hyperventilation but my question is are there any reprecussions to hyperventilating I usually on do so a once or twice a week...

I guess this can go here too...

    Re: Hyperventilation, any adverse effects?

I can answer your question from personal experience, however, it was unknown cause for my hyperventilation and not self induced.

When a person hyperventilates too much carbon dioxide blows off. We must have a balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide in order for the red carpusles to release oxygen to vital organs (brain, lungs, heart, etc.). Without sufficient oxygen to the brain, brain cells die, lungs and heart cannot function properly. This puts undue stress on the heart, actually the entire body. This caused extreme hypertension for me and the bloodpressure was up in the stroke territory. I could take 3 steps and stall out, due to lack of oxygen to my body.

Dr. Norman Kaplan, Nobel Prize Winner Hypertension Specialist at Southwestern Medical School diagnosed my problem and explained what was happening to my body. Three internists, and one cardiologist did not recognize the cause of my problems. Don't gamble on a doctor recognizing your problem either and providing proper treatment.

I plead and beg of you to not do this, consequences can be drastic and I would hate to see you lose your brain function or your life just because you were playing around. This is a serious problem, stop now and live a wonderful life. There are many other ways to overcome boredom, positive things that will not endanger your health or life.
