Debilitating Dizziness - Much worse when I eat solid FOOD!
What is going on. I have been out of work for 6 months!!! I feel like I am dying! Every time I eat ANYTHING, my head instantly becomes heavy, extrmemly dizzy, swimming, . . . I can't see; my vision is blurred, my eyes twitch. At night I get wierd tremors, like my body is an earth quake and it shakes the whole bed. Why am I getting so dizzy when I eat???!!! I can't drive, I can't see, I can't stand, I can't lay, I can't think, I can't LIVE like this!!!! I have a daughter and I can't even take care of her!!! I can't go to work. I'm being forced to sell my home.

I've been to numerous doctors and no one's ever heard of some one getting so DIZZY when they eat. It's like my head is full of poison. I can't explain it. It is the worst feeling I've ever had. It's not pain; I feel as if every breath could be my last. My heart races for NO explained reason; even at a resting state.

Has anyone EVER gotten completely dizzy like they are going to DIE??!!! . . . when they EAT???!!!

I went on a 22 day juice fast and my symptoms imroved significantly, (even though they never went away completely) but as soon as I started eating again, it CAME BACK!

I am feeling very ANGRY and DEPRESSED and I feel like I could scream, cry, throw up, and die all at the same time.   :dizzy:

I'm so sorry that you're so sick. I hope you feel better soon!

You definately need to see a neurologist. A good one. Which specialists have you seen so far?

Re: Debilitating Dizziness - Much worse when I eat solid FOOD!
It could be severe food allergy to something thats in everything, such as wheat.
It could be too much salt, causing your blood pressure to increase.
I suffer from chronic dizziness too. My problem is blood pressure and hormones......that's all I know so far.

Re: Debilitating Dizziness - Much worse when I eat solid FOOD!
I have seen a neurologist. I have had CAT Scans and MRI (which both came out negative), been put on several different medicines, had a ERG, a Colonoscopy, and am currently waiting on biopsy results. I have also seen an ENT (possible inner ear problem), GI (have had SEVERE IBS for 6 years prior to new symptoms), and OB/GYN (possible hormonal imbalance). I don't know. I'm just guessing and seeing every doctor I possibly can, because no one else seems to give a **** that I feel like I would rather DIE than live, my symptoms are so severe! I am only 22 years old and have been in the hospital over 30 times. I have had blood work done over 20 times and am currently waiting on some MORE results. Not one doctor has EVER heard of some one getting this disease when they eat. I will be seeing an allergist this Monday. Maybe I am allergic to EVERYTHING in food. I have been on a 4 day juice fast now, and I DO NOT plan on eating again for the rest of my life unless some one figures out what is going on! I would MUCH rather literally starve to death than to go through one more day of this agony.

Re: Debilitating Dizziness - Much worse when I eat solid FOOD!
I'm not sure what it could be, but getting tested for food allergies is a good idea. I have been sick with that kind of dizziness for almost two years, but also with really bad squeezing headaches, and pain behind both of my eyes. I've went to all kinds of doctors and had many tests too, with no idea of what's wrong. I sure hope you find an answer. Luckily mine is a little better than it was, in that I can drive again after not being able to drive for a year and a half. I still have to have someone to ride with me most of the time in case I get really dizzy again, and can't go far, but I have a little freedom again thank goodness. Not everyday is good, but I do have some good ones. Keep your head up, and don't give up!

Re: Debilitating Dizziness - Much worse when I eat solid FOOD!
i am so sorry for what you are going through :( i wish i could be of some help and am just grasping at straws, here... perhaps you could have parasites... they are in lots of types of food and also i would imagine when you eat the type of food that they thrive off of it makes them flourish and fill your body with more toxins. it may sound silly but since nothing else is yielding any answers why not run it by a doctor - and if you think a traditional doctor might look at you funny, try looking seeing a naturopathic doctor (fully licensed physician who is also trained in holistic practices and wellness). there is a website for the association of naturopathic doctors (not sure i got the name right) where you can search to see if one is near you. it might be good for you to see a naturopathic doctor anyway, maybe they could go down some avenues that regular doctors haven't suggested for you yet? ...please post back and let us know what's going on and how you're doing, i will be keeping you in my thoughts! princi*

Have you been tested for gluten intolerance?

Re: Debilitating Dizziness - Much worse when I eat solid FOOD!
i don't know why i didn't ask this first, but... could it be from your teeth or your jaw, from CHEWING? because you said the problem lessened when you were on a liquid diet - and when you were on that you didn't have to use those chomping muscles... princi*

Re: Debilitating Dizziness - Much worse when I eat solid FOOD!
Thank you ALL so MUCH for your input. It's really helping alot just to know that some one cares. I don't have a lot of family support. I've been sick for so long, they have deemed me "crazy". But I know there is a real problem and I will not stop looking until I find out what is wrong.

"wmjsease": I'm so sorry you have to go through the same things I've been enduring. It is literally the MOST difficult thing I have ever been through (and I've been through A LOT).

I also have not been able to drive since December 10th, 2006. I've lost my job, my home, and my life. I can't get to work or even the grocery store. I don't know how much longer I can survive like this. It's almost inevitable to be borderline suicidal.

. . .

I had actually thought about the jaw movement aspect of eating, but it seems to be more of a digestive thing, as well? But I am looking into everything and seeing every speacialist possible. Thank God for the insurance He has blessed us with. At least I have ONE thing to be happy about.

I went to the allergist a few days ago. They tested me. The only food I'm allergic to is coconut so far (which I hardly ever eat so that can't be it), but they are going to do more skin tests next week.

As for the gluten intolerance: That is what I'm leaning towards. It has a WIDE range and variety of symptoms, ALL of which I have to the fullest. My biopsy results are back, but the idiots ("sorry") didn't go far enough into the small intestine to be able to tell, so now I may have to get the test repeated. But I am willing to do ANYTHING to figure out what is wrong. I CANNOT live like this anymore. It is no life at all.

I have started a gluten free diet, in the mean time, and it actually seems to have been helping a lot! But it's only been 3 days and what I have eaten has been very little, but still I am hopeful. Only time will tell.

My personal note to anyone who is having the same/similar symptoms as me: TRY A GLUTEN FREE DIET. It's difficult but, if that IS the problem, IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE! (That's what I've heard anyway).

Hoping and praying . . .

Re: Debilitating Dizziness - Much worse when I eat solid FOOD!
i'm so hopeful to hear that something is starting to help, or at least you could be heading in the right direction... one of my relatives developed all sorts of weird symptoms - everything she was coming into contact with, right down to her bodywash, was making her have awful reactions ...and it turned out that it was all because of an allergy to milk! you'd never think that it could cause reactions to even things without milk in them, but somehow it did! and her doctor was able to help her, and give her a plan to follow, and now her life is mostly back to precious normal so, please try to hang on...
in case you do have a gluten allergy and need to adopt a gluten free diet long term, do you have good resources? these days there are finally starting to be options in the stores for people who have to eat gluten free, and maybe look "gluten free girl" b/c her page is a good jumping off point to even more resources from people living with celiac's/gluten allergy, so maybe give that a try :) ...i don't have a good family situation either ...i care and i'm following this and pulling for you! princi*

Re: Debilitating Dizziness - Much worse when I eat solid FOOD!
Okay, update:

It's been about 2-3 weeks. My test results came back from the biopsy and it did not indicate Celiac Disease. I deicded to go on the Gluten-Free diet anyways, because my own research has revealed that 20-30% of gluten intolerant/Celiac people go undiagnosed and all tests come up negative.

Since going on the gluten-free diet, I have felt SIGNIFICANT results. I was actually able to DRIVE somewhere! To most people, that is not even a question, but to me, it is a HUGE milestone. :)

Last night I bought some Lactose Free*, Gluten Free, Soy Cheese. I ate a few peices and immediatley felt dizzy, weak, and burning. I am SO angry with myself. I've looked it up on the internet today and a LOT of people who are gluten intolerant also have reactions from soy. Not good. So now I am fasting again trying to get my body back to "healing mode". It's been a LONG journey and I know there is still a very long road ahead of me. But atleast I'm getting somewhere and not sliding backward. I'm learning. This trial and error period will probably be going on for the rest of my life. But at least it will get easier the more that I learn.

. . . Hopeful . . .

Re: Debilitating Dizziness - Much worse when I eat solid FOOD!
I never thought of tryin a gluten free diet. I just recnetly had my genstational diabetes test...and the sugar solution had NO ill effect on me !!! That pretty much ruled out sugar to an extent... think im gonna try your way and see how it works out for me as well.

Hang in there!!

Re: Debilitating Dizziness - Much worse when I eat solid FOOD!
Here we go again . . .

It's been 5 days now since I ate the soy cheese. I'm having very little relief from any symptoms regardless that I have been on a 5 day fresh juice fast, which noramlly provides me with somewhat relief. I am beginning to feel suicidal again. I am not normally a depressed person an was very happy with my life, my job, my new home, and just about everything before I got sick on December 10, 2006. I have no reason to live anymore. This is not a life. This is a painful existence (physically and emotionally). I am unable to take care of my 4 yr. old daughter. I am unable to get out of bed for days/weeks/months at a time. Even when I am laying still and try to close my eyes, it is still there.

Every moment of every day, I endure these symptoms without any hope of relief:

. . . (Eating brings on ALL of these symptoms FULL FORCE - 10 x WORSE!) . . .

Feeling as if my head will colapse
Feeling as if my head will explode
Unexplainable, severely debilitating vertigo
Feeling as if my head is full of poison
Unable to hold my head up without support
Difficult to move my head
Difficult to move my eyes

Eye Symptoms:

Unable to keep eyes closed
Different/pressured dizziness when move eyes up/down/side to side
See spots/green outlines always
Unable to focus
Cannot see straight

Other Symptoms:

Involentary muscle spasms (as if there is an earthquake)
Tingling in hands
Burning of every muscle in my body
Burning arms (on the inside, not the outside)
Burning face (on the inside, not the outside)
Depression/suicidal thoughts/loss of hope of EVER getting well

Digestive Symptoms:

IF I get the courage to eat . . .

Severe Bloating
Chest pain
Severe Constipation (6 months at a time. Not kidding!)
Very tired

SOMEBODY PLEASE TELL ME WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME!!! Am I the first person in the whole world to have this "disease"???!!! Why don't any doctors know anything!!!???
