    antibiotic, sugar sensitivity, bacterial infection

ok, here we go, this is a long story, years ago, i was on strong antibiotics, around 6 months, on and off, cipro, doxi, TMS, Sulhpa, etc.
then I started to get these white stuff in my throat after eating sugar. which made me get sore throat. I know about candidiasis, only problem, doctors cannot find any fungus! so for years now, whenever I eat sugar, candy, cake, I have this! some doctor found staph or strep A in the throat which he said common,
now, it takes several days of eating to get the reaction, I get this mucus in the back of the throat, pain in throat. I have tried oregona oil, pau de arco, etc, not helping, used for a week diflucan also, not helping, not sure what it is, alergy to sugar? doctors dont think so.
anyone out there have this, or had this? and found a cure?

Definitely limit your intake of sugar, especially with candy and rinse with water after consuming sugar foods.

You could try Caprylic acid and swish it through your mouth before swallowing.

Ask the doc for Nystatin mouth drops.

Big question....have you changed your toothbrush often? Start with a new one at this point and once the infection has gone.
Change it once a month. Brush your tongue, cheeks and upper part of the mouth as far back as you can.

You could also purchase a probiotic that's in a powder form and rinse your mouth with it and swallow...there is also probiotic gum now...

thanks for the reply quincy, I change the toothbrush every 3-4 months, maybe I can change it more often and maybe in between, I can disinfect it by keeping in a listerine filled glass or something.
What I don't understand, it turns into a cold! yes first I get a sore throat then 1-2 days later i becomes a cold. strange, i wonder if bad bacteria is using sugar and then it takes over and give me this sore throat then cold symstoms, I am kind of sick of avoiding sugar, I used to love chocoholate etc. I cannot do it anymore. I will try what you have suggested, thanks.
If I get better I will update here. thanks

Hi..well a cold is viral. Unless you have allergies and those are some symptoms possibly?

Listerine won't help, it's best to have them dry. I sometimes will pour peroxide (the kind from the store in the bandaid section) and leave it for a few minutes and then rinse.

Toothpaste can also alter sensations in your throat...what kind are you using? Some give me horrible pains and yes...do exacerbate yeast growth. I have asthma and use a coticosteroid inhaler. I do brush afterward, but sometimes I still get it in my throat.

I use the Nystatin, but tend to want to use the Caprylic acid more...

Oh, forgot to mention that tea could help...no milk or sugar, however..it's supposed to help with yeast.

Definitely do the probiotics...take them on an empty stomach or 1 - 2 hours after other meds...but before bedtime. I take all mine at the same time.

    Yes keep us posted.

Re: antibiotic, sugar sensitivity, bacterial infection

I am using colgate, crest etc. regular brands, maybe I might try to check some health stores for ones that have less sugar.

I will use peroxide, good idea! I have some at home actually. Well symptoms are funny, Doctors don't believe me, but I told them, we can do a test, and After eating sugar for a while, I will get a reaction, (I need to find a lab, where they can test my throat cells for immune reaction if there is such a thing and not too expensive)

first sore throat, then cold like symptoms, Once I cut the sugar, everything goes back to normal! I am kind of tired of it. I stay away from sugar, when it is someones birthday, i eat cake etc then. If I can find something that might kill bacteria while drinking it. I will use the Nystatin(need to check if I need a prescription or sell it over the counter), I will get Caprylic acid, see what happens.
Regular black tea? I drink lot of it everyday actually. probiotics, I started drinking something called Kefir, which has good bacteria. I will get some pills also.
I will update you all. thanks for the responses, we all need help once in a while

Re: antibiotic, sugar sensitivity, bacterial infection

this is an update for the sore throat, bronchites symtoms, Doctor gave me azitromycin, which helped get rid of the infection on the throat, one thing to note, It wasnot seem to help first 2-3 days(250mg) then I started using 500mg per doctor, but also I was reading about apple cider vinegar, gargle it or you can drink it (mix it with water) It helped greatly! not sure if it was the antibiotic alone or both did it, sickness is gone, only thing I need to do is follow your suggestions and test myself with sugar once in a while to see if it is cured or not. willl update here if I get better, or find a cure for the sugar problem. thanks for your help, I hope everyone here gets a cure for their problems, cheers to all.

Re: antibiotic, sugar sensitivity, bacterial infection

    update:

Sorry for the late update, I have been using many things to cure my problem, i think i have found it

I have used "alkaseltzer" which is aspirin, and baking power mix from bayer (you can buy it anywhere, like walmart) . also apple vinegar, 2 spoons a day, it is working I think, not sure why, but my smytoms are going away. even If I have sugar lately. I am still controling how much sugar I get.

other things I used that might have also help,

    1) FLORASTOR - Saccharomyces boulardii lyo is a specific form of yeast. supposedly it helps maintain normal bowel function.

    2) royal bee jelly, Pollen
    3) a table spoon of baking soda in a glass of water a day.
*** 4) Apple cider vinegar, only a $1, very cheap and I found that it is really good for you. I think baking soda and apple cider vinegar is the main cure for my sugar sensitivity or disease. (maybe it kills bacteria etc. not sure)

    5) Kefir (kind of yogurt with good bacteria in it)

Re: antibiotic, sugar sensitivity, bacterial infection

Hi Olce - I have the exact same problem you have! Since I was about 15 I've been getting strep throat or a throat infection, only to be treated time and time again with antibiotics that dont always work. Seems like I've been getting this at least once a year, for a few years it was mostly gone. But then I got really sick... had a bacteria attack my body, cause fluid in my lung and had surgery. Since then I've been dealing with inflammation, as well as a throat infection that wont fully leave, and a yeast infection off and on. Doesn't want to go away. Finally narrowed it down and it seems to be sugar. So my questions are, do you have any of these symptoms too: fatigue, brain fog or trouble concentrating, memory loss, frequent urination, joint pain, muscle spasms, blurry eyes or trouble focusing, flu-like symptoms that come and go. I look forward to talking with you more to see if we can figure out what is going on. Strength in numbers! Take care, Vanessa
