PAD ultrasound

I have been having some pain in my legs when walking. Lately it has gotten much worse, to the point that I cant walk more than a few steps without pain. Cardiologist has ordered an ultrasound of the legs. Has anyone out there ever had this done? and what all happens. This one is for venous and then an echocardigraph, then 5 days later they are going to do an artiral ultrasound. I cant understand why they want to do a venous and then later an artiral one, why cant they do both at the same time?
I know I will have to be in a gown for all this and it just seems strange that I would have to go thru that 3 different times.
