Baker's Cyst - No tears after MRI, will not go away

    Hello,

I am trying to decide what are my next steps for a large Baker's cyst in my popliteus. I am 30/F and have done the gamut of things, running, lifting, nordic skiing, and biking. The cyst formed after a trail run with excessive uphill and downhill (such is Colorado). No trauma or pain in my knee, but I had been noticing tightness in my popliteus in both knees during the summer.

After 4 aspirations and an MRI with an orthopedic, the doc has just shrugged and hoped it will go away. Both the MRI center and the ortho noted no tears or injuries to my knee joint. I can nordic ski and bike, but have had it 8 months with no improvement. Is surgery my only option left? Should I seek a second opinion? I'm at a loss of what to do.

    Thanks,
