Passing on Dexa scan
Hi all, I was diagnosed with osteoporosis a few years ago through a Dexa, and my personal care doctor suggested another one now. I talked with my rheum, who pointed out my inability to tolerate bisphosphonates and other meds, although I took forteo a while back, and now take Calcitonin with no side effects. My rheum said that since I haven't had any broken bones, and at my age, given the limitations of corrective drugs I can take, he is advising against a Dexa at this time. I see him frequently and trust him, and am frankly relieved.
