    Steroid Injection

    I have burning pain in my low back when i bend side to side and cant set very long without crazy pain so Dr sugested I have a injection into l5 disc which it did not help then my pain dr said if i got no relief from shot than means that that is not the problem.But does that mean there is nothing going on in l5 disc

    Could be the problem is with another area and it just seems like it is coming from that area. Back problems often have this type of an issue.

    Hi. I do not agree that if the injection doesn't work that it isn't the disc. Steroid injections do not work on everyone and there is no way to determine if they will work or not without trying it. Some people have a resistance to the injection and they find that it gives them no relief. That doesn't mean there isn't something going on.

    What kind of doctor are you seeing for this? Is it an orthopedic doctor or a general physician? I would suggest that you see an ortho doctor who specializes in spines.

    Back pain is tricky. Unless you have xrays or even MRIs, sometimes it is hard to tell where the pain is actually coming from.
