pain pump

I currently have severe pain in my lumbar spine both hips both knees ankle and jaw for which I take 240mg of morphine per day. I'm 48 years old and my pain is well controlled with oral medication. my doctor is pushing me to have either the pain pump or spinal stimulator. is there any reason to do this when my pain is currently well-controlled

Re: pain pump

Dear Sandi,

Yes doctors are constantly pushed to get people off self-administered pain meds.
How long have you been on pain med? Have you ever filled a prescription prematurely?
There is a very real problem with pain pill abuse. also a lot of hysteria, IMO.

What is causing your pain? The pain pump or spine stimulator is generally recommended for long term pain relief. A family member had one implanted in his chest and it worked very well.

Ask your doctor what his reasons are.
