    Heart Racing from Pamelor

My pain management doc recently put me on Pamelor for my chronic sciatica pain. I have been on it for 7 day. The only side effect I am having which started yesterday evening is my heart is racing. Will this go away as I know it takes several weeks for your body to get used to this medication. thanks.

I had that happen to me on Elavil - another tri-c anti-d. Along with the heart racing, it was thumping away and woke me up at night. I thought I was having a heart attack. I immediately discontiued using it. I would report this to your doc.

    tobe,
Pamelor was the first anti I tried. That was probably about 8 years ago. I also tired Elavil and Tofranil in that class. They all made me a nervous wreck with racing, fluttering heart. I used to just call the prescribing dr and tell him and he would switch me to another one. Can you do that? I know sometimes it can be hard becauses some dr's expect you to "wait it out".

    best of luck,
    Karen

Doctor called and they are taking me off the Nortryptalin (sp?) for now. Have to have an EKG before any more meds can be used depressing.
