Lidocaine infusion treatments...the bad and the good...

I had 2 more treatments this past on Tues and one on Wed...What a BAD idea! The one on Tues went REALLY well...I didn't have any reactions when having the treatment and felt good afterwards. Wed was a TOTALLY different story.

30 mintues into the treatment my heartrate started going up FAST and so did my BP. When the nurse came in my heartrate was at 158 and going up, my BP when she took it was at 131/80 - and it was just literally 2 mintues prior 106/67. My chest started to cramp down, Was having a hard time breathing and my mouth was getting super dry and it was hard to swallow. We got it under control and then it kept happening. They finally ended up giving me nitroglycerin twice to try to manage what was going on, it did help which was a good thing.

Anway, Wed night when I got home I was feeling so awful (hard time breathing and chest pain) that I unlocked my front door and carried around the phone because I really thought that I was going to stop breathing!

Yesterday was more chest pain and a hard time breathing. Today is more of the same, so I didn't do my treatment today. On Tues we are going to do another treatment, but only do a quarter of the dose over a longer time.

That is all the the good...

As bad as the treatment is while having it, it is working! The burning and tingling on the back of my arm is GONE! The pressure on my elbow when you press there, is also a little better. My head/neck - headache, is also a little better! So it is hard to say that I should stop the treatments because they ARE helping, but the side effects during and after are AWFUL!!!!

So, something for all of you to think about as a treatment. Funny thing is is that there is a nurse at the office who is also going through the same treatment for her Lupus and she is not having ANY of these issues. She is getting a much larger dose over a shorter period and it is also helping her, but with no side effects!

I know that I have always been sensitive to drugs (we always seem to have to go through 5-6 before we find one that doesn't make me sick or anything), but I so wish this wasn't one of them!!

Oh well...Hopefully this info may give you all an idea of a treatment to try. I am not sure how many Drs. think of this treatment.
