Anyone see an Internist for PM?

Hello Everyone! Since my last visit with the crazy doctor who wanted to start me on IV vitamins every week and ignored my main problem totally: my colon attached to my colon, I have been told to see an Internist for my problems. I got a hold of my old PM doctor who retired and he told me to see an Internist who would be able to treat my Fibromyalgia,Scoliosis and my colon adhesions since my PC physician wants me to see someone who is more qualified ( its nice he can admit that too). I am a bit cautious of seeing a new doctor on Monday since I had a horrible experience last time with an actual PM doctor. I know I am young but I have documented proof that I am not a drug seeker and I have many photocopies and now X-rays to prove it. I totally understand the drug seeking screening they have to do and I welcome it but belittling my pain and asking " so you are only here for pain meds" makes me a bit upset. No, I want help! I can't sleep a full nights rest, I have horrible headaches and I can't stand without my lower back hurting for more then 45 minutes. Forget housework!! That PM doctor didn't want to help me, he wanted to run up my insurance with needless procedures and put me on a medication I told him didn't work for me (Cymbalta). So now I am going to see this Internist and I am just scared that he is going to treat me badly like the other doctor. I really am hating having to find a new doctor

At least it makes me feel better when I was telling the receptionist about my colon being stuck to my abdomen that she actually said " oh wow, ouch" so I know at least she can understand how horrible a BM can be for me. Does anyone here see an Internist for their PM needs? I understand that they specialize in the whole body as well as abdominal pain which I haven't be able to find 1 other PM office that does treat that pain, only back problems.

PM docs do specialise in Pain so they can offer more than Meds. ( Injections, Radio frequency and nerve blocks )An Internist can prescribe the meds but if the think you need a specialist for a specific "problem" that he can't deal with I am sure he will. I just think the first guy you went to was a QUACK in my opinion

Hey, we spoke earlier about my doctor here in GA. Did you call them? Their website says they deal with abdominal pain as well as back/spinal issues. I can send you a private message with their website if you would like it.

Hi MomofThree- Thanks for your letter and sorry I haven't responded. They don't take my insurance otherwise I would totally go to them.If this internist doesn't help me then I will be going to see your PM people and just not go through insurance. It's a pain but at least I will feel like someone is on my team rather than trying to force unneeded procedures down my throat or totally ignoring the fact that I have endometriosis and complications due to that disease. Thanks for your help!

Hi there. I see an internist once a month and he prescribes my pain meds. BUT, he insist that I see a pain doc every year to make sure what we are doing is acceptable, and If I need to have any injections, he is able to do those. Also, I had to have some major surgery and it was extremely helpful having a pain doctor go through that process with me and my surgeon. They are much better at managing post op meds and helping me with my anesthesiology. He, (my pain doctor) is a former anesthesiologist. Both my doctors work closely together regarding my pain management. Good luck,
