No they are not, I assume your talking about morphine sulphate Instant release. Morphine is 50 % weaker than oxycodone but I have to say its a very good pain releiver and if your Dr has given you this med, he probably wants to make sure you can tolerate it before moving you up if you need more. But its not an equivilent dose. Look online for a conversion chart.

i was on the oxycodone 15mg. but with the shortage his PA switched me to the morphine sulfate instant release 15mg. it does nothing for the pain. i was comfortable on the oxy but the morphine does not help at all. i thought the dosage was different. i thought that i would need a higher dose of the morphine.

You are correct you will probably need 30 mgs of IR. Call your PA and let her know if its not working for your pain. you might need to take more but ask your PA if its okay before you do this. I had to increase my dose from oxy by about 60 % for it to be equivelent to oxycodone but its a great med. I am sorry its not helping your pain.
    take care, SS

15 mgs of oxycodone works much better for me than even 30 mgs of immediate release morhpine, and it seems to last much longer, too.
