Wink To Chrpps99...Here is my LONG story you asked about...sorry LOL

Well, It’s a long story so I will try and shorten it. I started with a “twisting” pain in my lower right side at the age of 13. It would come, last 2 weeks, and then go away for as long as a year. About 3 years ago, the twisting hit again. Anyway, the timing of this seemed to coordinate with me going off of birth control pills. I did pretty well on them through the years. Only having a twisting attack once a year or so. I went off of them and with in 6 months, I had the pain in the side 3 times. Finally it hit and never went away. Off to the ER I go. I had a colonoscopy done...diagnosed with Irritable bowel. The meds didn’t solve the pain so she suggest I have a lapro with my GYN. My GYN scheduled me for a lapro 6 different times. She kept cancelling because I didn’t have insurance at the time. So I literally walked into a new GYN’s office in tears and begged for help. She did the lapro. She found a 5 cm cyst on the left, but nothing on the right. Now, as a result of that surgery, I have other injuries. I came home the night of surgery and felt like I was hit in the back with a bat and my right leg was totally numb. Turns out they ruptured the T/11-12 disc in my back from over extending me in stirrups. This is where I got off track for almost 6 months. It was off to see neurologist, neurosurgeons, orthopedic doctors, you name it. 3 said pain in right side was from disc and 3 said it was not!! I knew it wasn’t because this back pain and leg pain were too specific just hours after surgery. Plus my pelvic pain symptoms included late periods, upon being late things would swell and felt like I had a bladder infection but never did, when I would get my period the pain was intense!! Now I ask you, does that sound like my back?? Anyway, in the meantime I saw a urologist, he thought it was IS. Turned out he was wrong. Off I went to a reproductive endroconologist who put me on Lupron. He wanted to do another lapro right off the bat but I was afraid for my leg and back. So, I remained on Lupron and Provera for almost 3 years. This finally made the twisting pain go away. I experienced horrible side effects from Lupron, but that is a whole other story. I finally managed to get off pain meds because I felt so great. About 8 months into Lupron, I took a nasty fall. A lump comes out right in the crease of my leg. Pain now reaches from my lower back, around my right side, past this lump, and into my pubic bone. Here we go again, I went rounds trying to find out If I had a hernia due to the fall. None of the doctors felt this lump (most days it wasn’t out by the time I got to the doctor). Anyway, I have 3 chiropractors. 2 in Arizona and one in PA. They all 3 felt this lump including my physical therapist. This brings me to the Mayo Clinic. My mom and I drove all the way across country (so I could return back to Arizona and try and have some part of my life back) So, there I am telling these doctors at the Mayo about my “original” pain. It was more important for me to find out what was causing the twisting then it was my back issues at the time. The lead fertility specialist proceeded to tell me it was all in my head. This after I told her I have 72 day periods. Needless to say, after a few months I came back home to finally agree to surgery (because I figured that was the only way they were going to see a hernia as well) I had surgery and a bladder scope. The bladder appeared to be fine as well as my reproductive organs except for adhesions on the left. Again, nothing seen on the right regarding ovary problems and such. My left ovary was twisted around my bowel so he cut the adhesions. Funny thing is, any pain I had on the left resembled the pain on the right. Twisting!! But again, nothing on the right. He did find what he referred to as a “really inflamed looking bowel”. So, I am now seeing the GI doctor who in spite of what the RE doc found during surgery, thinks it is GYN related (as well as I) The fertility doctor specifically told me before surgery that in spite of Lupron, any problems would show. Now he is saying lets keep you suppressed so the endo. Doesn’t’ come back.. WELL, he told me after surgery there wasn’t’ any!!!!!!! I am sure he now thinks it was there, but the Lupron shrunk it. This was my whole argument with him for months about waiting until I was off of Lupron so there wouldn’t be a single doubt!! But here we are,,,,doubting the timing. To top it off, he didn’t inspect that “lump”, so we still don’t know if it could be a slight hernia!!! And lastly, he said he spoke to my GI doctor who he says isn’t willing to look out side of the box and further test what is going on with my bowel because she feels in spite of it, its gynecological. So there it is, my story and believe you me....this is the short version. This doesn’t include how they ruptured a muscle in my leg while having a nerve conduction test. Left me with a gulf ball lump that felt like a Charlie horse. This doesn’t include when the did a CT scan and the nurse came over and squeezed the shunt in my arm therefore letting the die run under my skin. I had to see a surgeon the next day because they were concerned they would have to slice my arm wide open. So, you see it has been 3 years of pure hell...No wonder I have lost my mind!!! And to boot, there still isn’t a diagnosis for the pelvic pain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, this is my story, are you sorry you asked??? LOL

    Hey There!
I bet you thought you scared me away Huh? Nope.. I am sorry that it has taken me soo long to reply. I have had a whole lot of things going on lately and haven't been online.
I am truly sorry to hear that you started having problems so young. It is also very horrible that they caused you more problems when they performed the procedure. I bet that has made you very skeptical of Drs and any procedures.. Why is it that life throws us soo many curves? It really sounds like you have been wrung thru the ringer.
Know that if ever there is anything I can do, please post me a message, and I'll do what I can. If only to get things off your mind. I'll try to be here for you..
My story is also a lengthy one, maybe I'll tell it to ya soon.. But not today as we are talking about you.. I also read your post about the Physical Therapy issues. I know what you mean about your own PT working for you, it seems that the PT they want you to do is so excessive, and they wonder why you start having soo much pain. Well its cause they push you to do more than your body can handle. I wish I knew what to tell you to say to your Dr so that he would understand, and not try to cut your meds. Cause you and I both know that will be their next issues.
Well again I apologize for me taking so long to respond to your post. I do hope you will forgive me..
    Take Care
    Pain Free Wishes To Ya

Glad to hear from you. I hope all is going well.
Your right, I have been through the ringer and it has made me very mis-trusting of doctors. Like I said, that was the short version!!
I would like to hear your story when you get a chance. Please let me know how you are doing. Thanks again for the support and right back at need to chat...I am here!! :
Have a good one and talk to you soon.

Re: To Chrpps99...Here is my LONG story you asked about...sorry LOL

Hi to you...I've just read your long letter regarding medical history....I had a problem which no gynecologist locally could solve without surgery so I made an appointment at Duke University Gynecologic Specialties Dept....I suggest you locate a TEACHING Medical Center near your home. Go there for their advice....also, I found the exam at Duke to be much more thorough than any I had up to that time. God's speed in your endeavors....Carolyn
