Question Duragesic toxic to liver and kidneys?

    Hi,

Since September 14, 2002, I have been using Duragesic 50 mcg for severe chronic pain caused by Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD). I apply 1 patch every 72 hours but each patch stays on my skin for 4 days.

I heard that Duragesic might be toxic to the kidneys and liver. Is this true? If yes, what are the symptoms of liver and kidneys damage caused by Duragesic? Are there tests to detect this?

Are there medications or other products to prevent damage to the liver and kidneys? I am worried about having to stop using Duragesic because I consider this medication has saved my life by controlling my pain and other symptoms of RSD.

    Thank you.
